The Role
The successful candidate will join Tech Against Terrorism as its first cataloguer to help build an archive of verified terrorist content. The archive will hold material produced by designated terrorist organisations that we currently alert to tech companies when found on their platforms through our Terrorist Content Analytics Platform (TCAP). The cataloguers will be responsible for the tagging, structuring, labelling, and sorting of the content before it can be included in the archive. The role will involve close collaboration with Tech Against Terrorism’s TCAP, OSINT, and Development teams.
Please note, this role will require working with graphic and/or disturbing material. Given the nature of this role we are looking to hire two people to work part-time, limited to 4 hours per day and expect people to work from our offices in central London.
Tech Against Terrorism offers support to limit and mitigate the effects of working with graphic content, including safe working practices and psychosocial support.
Responsibilities
- Categorise, label, and sort the content for the TCAP archive according to our archive taxonomy
- Recording the metadata in a consistent manner and with regard to best practice
- Maintain working relationships with both the development and TCAP team to ensure the data tagging and recording is in line with the development of the archive
Requirements
- Fluency in English and Arabic (reading and writing) and the ability to translate from one to the other
- Previous experience in working with graphic content and proven track record of mitigating the risks and effects of the work
- Ability to work meticulously with large volumes of information and handle several competing tasks with attention to detail
- Very good command of Excel
- Ability to work independently with support from relevant teams at Tech Against Terrorism
Desirable
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in relevant field
- Knowledge on Terrorism and terrorist use of the internet
- Relevant experience of archiving graphic or disturbing content
- Experience in a data entry role
- A degree of familiarity with large language models and their uses in content classification.
