The Role
As an Engineering Manager at QuantSpark, you will be responsible for leading a diverse team of software engineers, across various roles and experience levels. You’ll work across multiple projects, helping to oversee the technical delivery of products and features. Our project teams work cross functionally, and you will collaborate closely with product managers and technical leads to determine appropriate resourcing, timelines and technical approaches. This is a client facing, liaising with their engineering and technology stakeholders to facilitate seamless integration and deployment, and coordinating with Service Managers as needed to guarantee product support.
As an engineering line manager for both junior and senior engineers, you will focus on team growth and development through coaching and mentorship. By supporting and developing engineers, you will pinpoint opportunities to enhance processes and implement engineering best practices to boost efficiency and grow the company. For example, you’ll be a keen advocate for test-driven development, and ensure solutions are well documented.
Requirements
- Tenured background (4+ years) in software development, working to develop web applications; with a good familiarity across one part of our stack, which uses Python (Flask or Django) and React.js as back-end and front-end technologies respectively
- Proven experience in managing software engineering teams of juniors and seniors, guiding and mentoring them, and promoting professional development
- Demonstrated experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with software architecture and design patterns, as well as the ability to make informed technology stack decisions
- Experience with any cloud computing platforms and knowledge of containerisation
- Familiarity with modern software development tools and passionate about DevOps processes
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a focus on driving technical innovation and improvements
The following skills are not required but would be beneficial:
- Experience in client-facing roles, with a track record of successfully managing client expectations and delivering projects on time and in budget, in a consultancy environment
- Familiarity with data science tools and libraries and/or data engineering concepts
- Knowledge of service management principals (ITIL) and security best practices
Salary
💸 £80,000 - £110,000 per annum salary (based on experience)
