Analyst – Data AnalyticsA quick Q&A with Analyst, Evie Carter
What’s your role at QuantSpark and where do you sit within the organisation?
I’m a Senior Analyst in the Analytics Consulting team.
What did you do before you worked at QuantSpark and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Before I was at QS I worked for a year as an IT auditor at a large accountancy and professional services firm after graduating from the University of Leeds with a BSc in Maths and Biology.
In 5-years I see myself having specialised in a niche area of analytics – that could be developing a specific type of model or through having a deep understanding of a particular industry, but I’d hope to be able to say that I was an expert in something.
Who have you learnt the most from at QuantSpark so far? What have you learnt from them?
I’ve probably learnt the most collectively from our Analytics Engineering team who bridge that gap between data analysts and software engineers. Any time I’ve reached out to one of them for help I’ve come back with a much more thorough understanding of the technical requirements it’ll take to actually bring our analytics to life and put them in the hands of the end user.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?
Living in London I refuse to have a bad meal on a day off so usually it’s centred around where and what I want to eat – currently trying to make my way around every food vendor in Seven Dials market.
Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
Probably the Western part of Canada, so the national parks and down to Vancouver. I was studying abroad a few hours outside of Toronto (close by Canadian standards) when the pandemic hit and we had to cancel our trip out West, so I’d go back and do that exact route that I had planned all those years ago.
