A quick Q&A with Analyst, Hugo Fortescue

What’s your role at QuantSpark and where do you sit within the organisation?

I am an Analyst with the Analytics team, my role is a blend of client-facing work and analysis and data tasks.

What did you do before you worked at QuantSpark and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I previously worked as a Data Scientist focussing on water-infrastructure optimisation; before that, I studied Material Science and Engineering, focussing on high performance structural ceramics and materials modelling.
In 5 years, I see myself having transitioned more fully into a consulting role; augmenting my technical background with stakeholder management and consulting skills, and having worked with a broad range of clients in a wider set of industries.

Who have you learnt the most from at QuantSpark so far? What have you learnt from them?

My development manager has been incredibly helpful and supportive in helping me transition from my previous role, guiding me in building on my client management skills, and transitioning to working on short-term strategy projects.

How would your 10-year-old self-react to what you do now?

He would be over the moon that being curious and trying new things is a career.

What was the last thing you read?

Fellowship of the Ring, although hopefully, I have finished the other two books by the time you are reading this…
