A quick Q/A with Tech Lead, Tom Brockhouse

What’s your role at QuantSpark and where do you sit within the organisation?

I am one of the Technical Leads at QuantSpark, in the Engineering department, and I lead teams of developers on our software projects, with focus on technical decisions and application design.
My daily work is a great mix of technical design, mentoring and guiding developers and coding.

What did you do before you worked at QuantSpark and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

Before QuantSpark I worked for a software company which was a member of a group which specialised in the glazing industry. I worked on software related to the design, fitting, and auditing of doors and windows – actually more interesting than it sounds.

In 5 years’ time I still plan (and hope) to work on exciting software projects!

Who have you learnt the most from at QuantSpark so far? What have you learnt from them?

I really think I have learnt from everyone here! Every individual has their own skills and subset of knowledge, and there is always something new to learn.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Never stop striving towards your goals and keep learning!

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

Love wondering around a museum or exploring a city and discovering new places to go.
