A quick Q/A with Senior Analytics Engineer, Kieran Fox

What’s your role at QuantSpark and where do you sit within the organisation?

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, I work to connect analytics and developers in multifunctional teams. I often lead my projects and manage small teams as well as stakeholders.

What did you do before you worked at QuantSpark and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I used to work as a data analyst and engineer in ecology and conservation. Before that I was working in academia as a physicist in Prague. I want to work over the next 5 years to develop my managerial and business skills to be able to contribute more to the company.

What do you love about your job?

I love solving problems and finding just the right solution for the job. I also really enjoy the complexities involved in meeting various stakeholder requirements and find the challenge to be really engaging.

How would your 10-year-old self-react to what you do now?

Erm, I always wanted to be scientist and did that for a while. It’s not very easy to build a life around academic work though and I’m not sure my 10 year old self would understand that haha. I really like my job and its a constant challenge which my 10 year old self would appreciate.

What advice would you give to someone on their first day at QuantSpark?

Put your own personal boundaries on what you want to give to your job. And then within those boundaries, throw yourself into it. There are so many opportunities to develop and learn. I feel like it’s a job where you get out of it what you put in.
