A quick Q&A with Senior Developer, Ben Horner

What’s your role at QuantSpark and where do you sit within the organisation?

I am a Senior Software Engineer here at Quantspark, I work across multiple different projects, writing code and supporting colleagues.

What did you do before you worked at QuantSpark and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I have been a full stack engineer for the past 6 years and prior to that I lectured in Computer Science. My most recent role was at a firm called Novartis. In 5 years I would like to have moved into a tech lead role, preferably focused on nlp, as long as I still get to write code.

What do you love about your job?

I love the creative aspect of writing elegant code to solve complex problems and I love working with others in part of a team.

How would your 10-year-old self-react to what you do now?

Considering how far computers have come in the last 30 years I think a 10 year old me would have their mind blown.

Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?

I’d love to island hop across the Melanesia.
