A quick Q/A with Analytics Engineer, Patten Smith

What’s your role at QuantSpark and where do you sit within the organisation?

I am an Analytics Engineer, which falls under the engineering team. My role combines aspects of analytics and model engineering, providing an invaluable blend of function to our clients.

What did you do before you worked at QuantSpark and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

Before QuantSpark I was working in reporting for Ocado Retail. In five years’ time I’d love to have gained a significant amount of technical expertise, and have the successful delivery of many major projects under my belt. I am also looking to have taken steps in the management direction in that period.

What do you love about your job?

As I touched on, my role is a dynamic blend of skills, combining analytical programmes with more technical engineering workflows. I really like this mix of work and being able to work on a variety of different projects.

What advice would you give to someone on their first day at QuantSpark?

Learn how the coffee machine works ASAP.

If you had to choose a song to personify you, what would it be?

I’m not sure if this really personifies me in any way, but The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash is maybe my favourite song.
